The cryptocurrency XRP surpassed the $1 threshold for the first time in its history on Saturday, after rising more than 18% in the past 24 hours to reach $1.04.
XRP recorded an approximately 80% increase over the past week, making it one of the best-performing cryptocurrencies in recent days.
Breaking the $1 barrier boosted XRP’s market capitalization to $59.59 billion, with its market value increasing by nearly $18 billion in just the last 24 hours.
Cryptocurrencies, in general, have been on the rise since the announcement of Republican candidate Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election, as Trump is known for his support of the cryptocurrency world .
